A hand held tool; solid iron rod with circular top (to be struck with a hammer); opposite end has hollow section slightly wider in diameter (to fit over wooden pegs); wood remnants wedged in this hollow. Iron at top is spread from use. |

Used when taking a barn frame down. The hollow end was placed on the end of wooden pins or pegs holding timbers together. The opposite end was struck with a hammer and the peg removed. The owner of the tool was a barn raiser. |
