Description |
A black wool cape decorated with braided trim. There is an upstanding collar of black pleated silk with black lace overlay and braided trim with grosgrain ribbon in front. The front of the cape is fastened with four sets of hooks and eyes and there is a braid swirl trim down the front, across the shoulders and along the bottom. The cape is lined with black silk. |

Property of the donor's mother, Mrs. Edith Jane Wallace (McDermaid) who lived in Teviotdale and married in 1924. Edith moved to Fergus in 1944 and lived there until her death in 1976. This cape is believed to have been preserved by Edith but belonged originally to either her mother, Isabella McDermaid (Blair, d. 1944) or her grandmother Mrs. Blair (Hood d. 1895). |
