Provenance |
Ann Maria Northey was born in Cornwall, England on 21 Sep. 1800, to Roger Northey (1757- ) and Elizabeth (nee Kittow, 1762- ), both of whom had also been born in Cornwall. In 1821, Ann Maria Northey married George Tucker (1800-1873) in Cornwall, and had son William in 1822. By 1848 they had emigrated to Canada and settled at Lot 5, Concession 15, Peel Township in Wellington County. W.F. MacKenzie's history of Peel Township (published in the Guelph Mercury in 1907) notes that George Tucker "came to Canada with the Sturtridge family in 1848"; George and Ann Maria's children include Emily Tucker (who married R. Hosking), Richard Tucker, Annie Tucker (who married John Philp), Susannah Tucker (who married H. Booth), John Tucker, William Tucker, and James Tucker. Information provided by the donor is that Ann(a) Maria Northey had been born in Denmark, though census records and online family trees all suggest that she was born in Cornwall, England, as were her parents. Census records also suggest that Northey was a surname found mostly in Cornwall. Donor is the granddaughter of Abel Moore and William Tucker, and the daughter of John and Catherine Tucker. |
