The Mundell records consist of land records pertaining to lots in the Village of Elora, including residential and commercial properties eventually leased or purchased by John Mundell and Co. for the period 1849-1905. The collection is arranged into Series by street location. In addition, the collection inlcudes correspondence addressed to the office of John Mundell and Company, Elora, Ontario, 1875-1907. John Mundell, cabinet maker, founded the Mundell Company in 1848. His furniture factory continued under the management of his son John Cleghorn Mundell until 1930. Following John C. Mundell's death, the factory operated under a nephew, Harry Herbert Mundell until it was destroyed by fire in the 1950s.
