Description |
Materials relating to the Leybourne family of West Garafraxa. Frank Leybourne was part of a large family, the son of Edward Leybourne and his second wife, Marie (nee Davis). Frank's year of birth is variously reported as 29 March 1873 or 1874 or 1876. He married Mary Elizabeth ("Eliza") Beechinor of Eramosa Twp. Members of the Beechinor family moved to Walla Walla, Washington. Frank and Elizabeth farmed in West Garafraxa Twp., and Frank drove a mail route for 33 years. Frank and Eliza had one son, John ("Jack") Frederick Charles Leybourne (1913-2005). After military service, Jack joined Beatty Bros. in 1946. In 1965 he married Hazel Emily Ritchie, of Grand Valley, and they moved to Speedvale Ave., Guelph. Jack retired in 1978, with 32 years service. He and Hazel travelled extensively.
