The McWilliam House Hallway: A Painted Room in Drayton, Ontario, 1987. Ariticle written by Nancy Lou Patterson of the University of Waterloo, and published in the journal Material Cutlure Review / Revue de la culture materielle, Volume 26, Fall 1987. The article explores 19th-century paintings of portraits of prominent people that were applied to dry plaster walls inside a home on Main Street in Drayton. Illustrated; article printed from the internet on 06 May 2016; 9 sheets. According to the article, Dr. Robert McWilliam had the house built shortly after 1885, and used it as his house and office until 1908 when he sold the house to Dr. James Cassidy, and moved to Galt. Cassidy sold the house in 1913. Later residents included Viola Noecker, Edna Brandon, Frank Brandon (who bought the property in 1941), and Hank and Alice Reinders (who bought it in 1980). |
