Taylor, Lot 241 Clarke St., - Miss Elizabeth [&] Hannah Taylor, Lots 213, 214 Clarke St. Elizabeth Taylor (1839-1917), John Taylor (1841-1926) and Hannah Taylor (1844-1932) were brother and sisters. Initially they farmed "Leahurst", the property previously owned by The Rev. John Smithurst, north-east of Clifford. At their retirement, the Taylors moved to Clarke Street, Clifford, next to the Evangelical Church. They had been good farmers and had profited from investments in land in Western Canada. Recipients of their generosity included the Clifford Branch Women's Institute, the Masonic Lodge, and the Clifford Cemetery. |
