  3. 2002.23.11 - Belt, Ammunition

    A WWI military machine gun ammunition belt, dated 1914 - 1918. It is made of canvas webbing with a brass clasp. Interspersed at 1-inch intervals are silver metal attachments grommetted to the webbing. Every third one extends above the belt.

    Two military identification tags (.01 & .02) used in World War I, circa 1914-1918. The tags are made of vulcanized asbestos and are held together with a short piece of string. The round tag (.01) is brown in colour and has the following information stamped into it: "Crane J.E. / 1 CDN M G BATT/ P/ 663651." The khaki-coloured tag (.02) is eight-sided with the following information stamped into it: "Crane J.E./ P./ 663651/ 1 CDN. M.G. BATT." These ...

  8. 2002.23.5 - Dressing, Shell

    An unopened WWI field dressing consisting of a rectangular khaki/brown cotton packet with two white cotton pull tapes. Printed in black ink on one side of packet: "War Office - Medical Division / First Field Dressing", as well as instructions for use, a description of contents: "Two dressings in waterproof covers, each consisting of a gauze pad, stitched to a bandage, and a safety pin", manufacturer's name and date: "June 1918".

    A World War I wool khaki jacket, circa 1916-1918. It has a 5-button front and four pockets. It has brass-plated buttons. It has one collar badge designating the Machine Gun Corps. One stripe is on the left arm. Three small blue stripes are on the right sleeve.
