  2. 2013.10.2.01 - Pin, Lapel Pin, Graduation Pin, Clothing

    A sterling silver graduation pin (.01) stored in its original case (2013.10.2.02). Inscribed on the back of the pin is "1897." The bottom of the pin is made of decorative cut letters possibly to signify the Nicholls Hospital Training School in Peterborough. Five chain links attach to the cutwork to a banner and pin. Enameled on the banner in blue letters is "DEO ET HUMANITATI."

    Brown leather personal case (.02) used to store the nursing graduation pin (2013.10.2.01) dated circa 1897. On the front printed in gold letters is "Lydia C.E. Fahrner." Inside is lined with red silk.

  4. 2013.10.3.02 - Thermometer, Medical Instrument, Diagnostic Instrument, Medical

    Two clear glass medical thermometers (.01 & .02), dated circa 1897. The temperature scale, ranging from 95 to 112 degrees, is marked in black, against a white background. Both thermometers are broken at the tip; no mercury. The thermometers are stored in a red medical thermometer case (2013.10.3.03) dated circa 1897.

  5. 2013.10.3.03 - Case, Medical Instrument Case, Medical Thermometer

    A red medical thermometer case (.03) used to store two thermometer tubes (2013.10.3.01 and .02) dated circa 1897. Inside the case are narrow divisions, lined with purple velvet, to securely store the glass thermometer tubes. The lid interior is lined with purple silk, and printed with gold letters "Comitti's / Patent / "Rapido" / Clincals."

  6. 2013.10.4.03 - Case, Medical Thermometer Case, Medical Instrument Thermometer, Medical

    A brass thermometer case (.01 and .02) and glass thermometer (.03) dated circa 1897. The case has a stamped decorative design overall with an inscribed "L. Fahrner" name plate at the middle. On one end is a loop with two link chains. On the other end is a screw top lid (.02).
