    A baby bonnet made of white cotton dated during 1880-1900. The bonnet has a circular embroidered inset. On the back it has Ayershire embroidery. The bonnet has three rows with white cotton drawstrings near the brim. It has a double row of ruching on the brim and along the back.

  2. 1955.18.10 - Beadwork Handbag Purse Reticule

    Black satin handbag with inner drawstring at the top. The bag has a corded edge and chenille & silk tassel on each side. Each side of the bag is embroidered in a floral scroll of silk floss and tiny, multicoloured glass beads (pink, green, yellow, blue, gold). Circa 1805.

    Wooden trinket box of varnished natural wood with a sliding lid. On the lid is inked a folk art scene of a country home with three trees and a pond in the background. The varnish is worn.

    Narrow, faded purple silk ribbon with centre pleat. Attached to middle is a rectangular punched paper embroidery. Gold silk petit point embroidery reads: "God is our refuge". Filigree ends on punchcard.

    Apple corer made from the leg bone of a chicken. Carved into it is "AWI". Circa 1780 according to gift form.

  11. 1955.18.28 - Fragment, Needlepoint

    Unfinished red handwoven wool and hand-worked Berlin wool work fragment. Depicts a row of embroidered fleur-de-lis with a row of cross-stitch underlining this; additional row of embroidery beside the fringe. The colours range from off-white to peach and from green to rust.

    A white linen lawn jabot, 1850-1890. It has a machine-embroidered flower design on the front. It has scalloped ends. The sides of the jabot are machine-hemmed.

    Miniature white ceramic souvenir jug with a handle. Painted crest on the body in orange, tan and red of a crowned lion holding an axe. A ribbon below the crest reads "Norway". An imprint on the base indicates that it is a replica of a "jug about 600 years old, found in the ancient moat of Scarborough".

    A woman's white linen handkerchief dated during 1850 - 1890. The handkerchief has a handstitched hem and is edged with lace. Whitework embellishments in all four corners feature appliqued floral designs; some flowers have cutwork.

  20. 1955.18.7 - Veil, Mourning Veil, Woman

    Black cotton net embroidered mourning veil. Intricate floral pattern near the scalloped bottom of the veil and embroidered stars throughout. The drawstring is missing. There is a hemmed section at the top of the garment where the string was.
