Provenance |
The quilt was made by the "Sunbeam Class" at Shand's Sunday School, West Garafraxa Township. Sunday afternoon classes were held for community children (interdenominational) at Shand's School. The quilt was a fundraiser in which a name was embroidered for 5 or 10 cents. The quilt was then raffled, and was won by Margaret (Armstrong) when she was 18 years old in 1927. Margaret, who eventually married George Martin, was raised on the Townline of Eramosa Township. The names embroidered in white on the red circles are the names of the teachers. |
