Description |
Pewter statue on black painted wooden base. The statue is the image of a Boy Scout in full uniform (including hat, kerchief and backpack) with one foot up on a rock holding a stick in the air with one hand and his hat in the other. Engraved plate on the front reads "First Creekbank Alma Scout Troop Patrol Public Service Award". And on the side reads "1960-1961, Coyote Patrol, Bruce Whale P.L., Jim McLeod, Wayne Lockhart, Ken Curtis, Bob Deagle A.P.L., Lloyd Howlett, Ray Close, Jerry Fronchak". |

The 1st Creekbank-Alma Boy Scouts and Cubs was founded in the Fall of 1947, when Robert Tschanz asked Robert Arndt to form a Scout troup, as Arndt had been involved with Scouting in Elmira. The first meeting took place in the Creekbank school. with Arndt being investited as Scout Master at Camp Bosworth. The Cub Pack was formed by John Wagner and Donald Weber, and Lorraine Arndt formed a Girl Guide troup in 1949. The Boy Scouts received their Charter in 1948. The location of the meetings shifted to Alma in late 1949/early 1950, as it was more a more central location. Scout Master Robert Arndt was born in 1929, and passed away in 2012. He was a lifelong resident of Alma, and served with the Boy Scouts for over half a century. |
