The Heritage of Reverend George Isaac Stephenson, by Muriel Jean Stephenson, Brantford, 2007. George Bernard Stephenson came with his parents to the 16th of Peel Twp. in 1851. He married his wife Eliza (nee Isaac) in Drayton, 1867. They farmed together for 20 years, before moving to Arthur Village. Tbeir family consisted of one daughter and 3 sons, one of whom was The Rev. George Isaac Stephenson (born Riverbank, Peel Twp. 1880 - died Agincourt, 1974). He attended Arthur Public and High School, and Victoria College, Toronto. He was ordained in 1912 and for 38 years served numerous charges in the Hamilton Conference of the Methodist and later United Church - including Stirton and Eramosa. In 1913 he married Dell Kathleen Locke and their children were Kenneth, Norma Dell, Isobel Marie and The Rev. Muriel Jean. |
