Reverend C. E. Thomson family, Elora, letters, course notes, sermons, 1832-1894. Charles Edward Thomson (1832-1903) was the son of Hugh Christopher Thomson and his wife Elizabeth Ruttan (1798-1876). Charles' father died in 1834 and his mother remarried The Reverend Adam Townley, who thus became his step-father. In 1857, C.E. Thomson was ordained as an Anglican minister and he married Margaret Geddes Gilkison (1837-1928) in Elora, where he had been appointed to the Church of St. John the Evangelist. The Reverend Thomson served in Elora until 1877, when he was posted to All Saint's, Hamilton. He served in other parishes in southwestern Ontario, ending at St. Mark's, Toronto Junction, where he died in 1903. - file 1: Hugh Christopher Thomson, 1824-1833.
