    A hand forged wrought iron hoe head dated circa 1830-1860. The blade was welded to the handle holder. Illegible letters are stamped in the middle of the inside blade. It has several hammer marks.

    A large, rectangular, wrought iron cow bell with flat sides and a slightly tapered body. The body is rivetted along the narrow sides. A bent iron rod creates a rectangular handle at top middle to accommodate a collar or strap. Clapper consists of a ball of iron on the end of a long slender shaft. The shaft attaches to an 'eye' mounted to the top interior via a nut on the exterior. Handmade.

  10. 1952X.481.24 - Fence, Barbed Wire Fence

    A short strand of barbed fence wire. The wire consists of a flat, narrow length of iron with a central ridge. One edge is smooth, and the other is barbed with flat triangular points at one-inch intervals along the strand. The wire is twisted along its length to distribute the barbs on all sides. Probably from the turn of the century.

    A man's grey watered silk waistcoat dated 1856. It has deeply notched lapels, a double-breasted front, and six silk-covered buttons. There is one pocket on each side just below the top button. The lining and back are light brown cotton, and the back features a narrow adjustable strap.

    A black brushed silk "stove pipe top hat" dated to 1856. It has a black band of ribbon around the crown. The top of the crown is dented and sunken. The hat is lined with off-white silk. There is a wide leather sweatband inside the crown.

The bodice is made up of two strips of sheeting that extend from the waistband up over the shoulders and form the back straps. There is a wide frill over the shoulders. Deep hem.     Silver circular commemorative medal. Flat smooth surface on front and rear as well as the outer edge. Engraved in capital letters on the front: "John D. Currie / In / Memory / Of / Lyon Chief"; engraved on the rear: "To / The Good Owner / Of / A Good Horse / From the / Earl of Aberdeen". Soldered small ring at top middle with a larger ring link attached. Manufacturer's stamp at bottom rear reads "Sterling".
