Kenneth Henderson pleads for a higher bid, and Bob Finlayson stands by to pass up the next piece of merchandise. The cash register ultimately sold to Gordon Horne for $13.00, which was surprising. Seems that folks wanted to buy it for younger members of the family who amused themselves for many hours 'playing store.' There were lamps, wall brick-a-brack, toiletries, food, and as they phrase it in regular auctions: 'other articles too numerous to mention.'" This photograph appeared in the newspaper. Although all types of boats, from row boat to modest cabin cruiser can be seen on the lake, - the sailboat fanciers formed the Conestoga Sailing Club in 1960, and it boasts about 57 members. Each Sunday, about 2.30, about forty sailboats take to the open water for the weekly race which last about an hour. Those not participating watch the event from the clubhouse." Sheldon Cosens and his son, Bruce, and Charlies Ash displayed this collection of very early gasoline driven contrivances. The biggest and most attention compelling unit was the log-sawer, which was actually working. During the parade the old "put-ha-ha" gas engine worried that big saw right through the thirty inch log. Also on the wagon was an early gas powered water pump, running, and another engine that couple be hooked to anything, chugging away. There was also a scythe was grain cradle, a jack that came with the first model "T" and other early Canadiana Mechanicana."
