The Potter family records consist of corresondence received by John Potter and David M. Potter, born at Gallowflat Farm, Scotland who emigrated to Canada and settled in Elora, Ontario. David M. Potter was proprieter of the Elora Foundry with Mr. Mathieson in the mid 1880s and he took over as sole proprieter in 1859, acting as manager of the foundry in 1871. The Elora Foundry building was located on Allan Street and later used at Kiddie Kar Factory by Mundell and Co., subsequently gutted by fire. The Potter residence, located beside the foundry was gutted by fire in 1978.
