    White cotton bedspread embroidered in red with "There are angels hovering round to carry the tidings home to the New Jerusalem." Made in two pieces with centre seam. Includes matching white cotton pillow sham embroidered in red with "Angels guard thy bed." Turkey Red embroidery in stem stitch.

    (.01) Snider-Enfield Mark II rifle musket and (.02) steel rod made by BSA Co. The rifle has a walnut stock, steel barrel, breech, brass trigger guard, butt plate.

  4. 1959.3.1 - Auger Drill

    A T-shaped auger consisting of a long iron bit and a tapered wooden handle. The bit consists of a one and a half inch auger with a long, narrow shaft. The shaft is bolted through the middle of the wooden handle.

  5. 1959.3.10 - Bedpan Pan, Bed Receptacle, Human Waste

    A light brown earthenware bedpan consisting of a shallow, tapered vessel with a male urinal spout applied at the front. Clear glaze finish on the interior and exterior.

    An iron post-hole auger. The two metal flanges form a disc 25cm in diameter which is attached to a long rod with a cylinder at the top where a wooden handle is inserted.

    A pair of wooden dumbbells. Light, natural wood. Perhaps handmade. They have been turned.

  8. 1959.3.4 - Clipper, Hair Clippers, Hair Tool, Animal Grooming

    Hand operated, horse hair clipper; two round, wooden handles are moved out and in to produce the cutting action. The cutting head is made of steel. There are two toothed blades that are held in place on top of each other by a nut. The metal arms which attach the head to the handles crisscross over each other.

  9. 1959.3.5 - Comb, Animal

    Hand held tool consisting of a rectangular length of iron which has short, dull, serrated teeth on both sides. The metal comb portion is painted black and set at a right angle to the handle. Short, turned wooden handle is centred on the comb and stained red.

  11. 1959.3.7 - Spittoon

    A circular earthenware / redware spittoon with orange and green slip decoration inside and out. The sides are sloped from the bottom to the top. There is a large cicular hole 6.6 cm in the top and an elongated hole 7.0 cm in the side.

    A cast iron apple parer painted black. Clamp at bottom to mount to a tabletop (thumbscrew adjustment missing). The handle turns two cog wheels.

    Cast iron glue pot consisting of a small glue pot (.01) with straight sides and a homemade wire handle. Glue pot has a flat lip which allows it to sit suspended within the larger water pot (.02). Water pot has angled shoulder and homemade wire handle.

    A pair of wool carders (.01 & .02). Natural wood paddles with fine wire faces. Used to separate and straighten fibres in preparation for spinning.

  15. 1970.7.1.03 - Churn, Butter

    Wooden dash churn, painted red / brown, consisting of a wooden barrel (.01) with four metal hoops; wooden lid with a hole in the center to accommodate the dasher; the underside is grooved at the hem. The dash (.03) has a morticed square on the bottom and is attached to a pole handle.

    Hard wood and iron cutter molding plane. Front stamped "S. DALPE, ROXTON POND, P.Q.". Back stamped "I", "71", "23". Screw cutter (blade) and cutter wedge missing. See card for diagram.

    Moulding plane - for groove. Hardwood body. Front stamped "P. BUNT, W. MOSS", "WHEELER". Back stamped "INING 8". Poor condition. Cutter and wedge missing. Also man insect holes (treated).
