Ledger entitled "Insolvency Register", listing insolvent business people in Wellington County, Guelph, with a few in Dufferin County, between September 1875 and December 1878. In some instances the insolvent individuals lived outside of Wellington County, but owned businesses in Wellington County. Columns record name of insolvent, residence, place of business, trade or profession, date of assignment or issue of writ, nominal value of assets, amount of liabilities acknowledged by insolvent, amount of claims proved, assets realized, if discharge granted within one year or not, dividends paid, referred claims, amount of dividends remaining unpaid after three months from last dividend, rate on $ paid to unsecured creditors or by composition, and remarks. The named insolvents include grocers, general store owners, butchers, farmers, saddlers and harness makers, carriage and wagon makers, brick makers, hardware store owners, physicians, druggists, booksellers, and other merchants, and manufacturers. Several of the insolvents listed were in the boot and shoe business. amount of dividends remaining unpaid after three months from last divident, rate on $ paid to unsecured creditors or by composition, and remarks.
